Whatever happened to good old fashioned reading- that action of looking at the written word and understanding it’s meaning? That wonderful act of obtaining knowledge that is at once a means of escape and makes us curious. That certain something that makes us think.
Don’t get me wrong, I know we live in an electronic age and I am most thankful for many aspects of it. And I know it takes a lot to figure out what makes an insanely cool ipad/ipod function as I too know that the lure of apps and games is great and their mastery not always an easy feat. And you’re so right Dani, many many chil’ren (of all ages) just love this. Sometimes too much.
Makes me recall standing at the temple steps of the Parthenon on the Acropolis, one of the world’s greatest cultural monuments built by the Athenians between 447BC and 438BC. I remember thinking, how on earth did they do this? Indeed, this structure has been studied for centuries, yet scholars are still not sure how to unravel the mystery of it’s construction. Imagine that.
Kind of makes you wonder.
Somebody wake them up. They can’t hear the alarm…
