I so much enjoyed my sister last week during her and Susan’s visit to this side of the pond. I couldn’t imagine Dana not being in the script of my life.
I was reading today about the public fight between two sisters; one who is gay and the other running for a senate seat who’s not. Unfortunately, their parents are stuck smack dab in the middle of their conflict.
Their father, former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney, along with his wife, have embraced their daughter Mary’s longtime partner and spouse Heather and their children. Mr. Cheney has even publicly stated that “People should be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to enter into.” Liz, the sister in the political arena, says that she loves her sister and her family and that the gay issue is just an issue “where we disagree.” Mary fired back that her sister is just “wrong and on the wrong side of history.” This could hurt Liz’s senate campaign.
Pity. Two sisters, once inseparable and now deeply divided. What misfortune. I hope these ladies can, if not quickly, then at some point in the very near future resolve their differences.
Then they should grab each other’s hand and go hit the dance floor somewhere in this big beautiful world!
