menopausebarbees
... the tales of two sisters

Dana lives in Seattle, and Tracie lives in Germany. We are businesswomen, writers and humorists. We write about life, dating, and today's modern women.

Remembering a Jewel

Today the Menopausebarbees dim the lights for our dear life-long family friend, Jewel Capeluto.

We learned last night that Jewel unexpectedly passed away.Morrie and Jewel Capeulto have operated Seattle Curtain Manufacturing, and maintained the legacy after three generations. Over the years Seattle Curtain became
increasingly known for their reliability and dedication in
manufacturing draperies of all kinds.

Our families have celebrated every milestone and special occasion together through the years. The lesson I learned from Morrie and Jewel’s love story was one of faith, hard work and unity.

I was just in Seattle Curtain a few weeks ago, when I went to pick up a curtain I had restrung. Jewel was sitting behind her desk, with her ever ready, pleasant smile and welcome embrace. We chatted and caught up on the kids, grand kids and extended family.

Thorton Wilder said, “The greatest tribute to the dead is not of grief, but gratitude.”

The greatest tribute to the dead is not grief but gratitude.

The name Jewel suited her well…Below is a photo of the Capeluto wedding circa 1950. Rest in Peace Jewel!
