We are off to the Races! Spotlight on Andrea Maki

Last Wednesday evening, although we had recently sprung time forward, I literally turned the clock back some 40 years, when a childhood friend, Andrea Maki came to visit.

Andrea's mother, Dee Maki and my mom, Theresa Frank were two of Seattle's version of super models back in the day.  After attending their runway shows and bookings. Andrea and I had countless sleepovers and joined our mothers at holiday and birthday parties.  As life happens we went on our separate journeys, and thanks to Facebook we reconnected.

I am amazed and inspired by the Menopausebarbee my childhood playmate has morphed into. A talented artist, it's in her genes as she is the daughter of famed sculpture, Robert Maki, however, that will be another blog, today I have asked Andrea to share her other great passion, Wild Love Preserve.

We are off to the Races! Please read today's Menopausebarbee spotlight in Andrea's words below and let's win this race!

Most aren't aware of the critical state of our nation's wild horses, let alone the cost to taxpayers.  Over 50,000 wild horses in longterm government holding facilities, more that reside on the open range. In 2012 alone $75 million in tax dollars were spent on helicopter roundups, removals from public lands and holding facilities.

Founded 2010, non-profit Wild Love Preserve is a two-part wildlife preserve and lasting project, addressing all facets of wild horse population management in a history making new manner at home in their native environment.  In addition to Wild Love's  work in the wild, offering a viable, cost effective alternative to roundups and removals, in 2013 we rescued 130 native Idaho wild horses & pulled them from the taxpayer funded system to live together on WLP private wild expanse.  Public Engagement, Education, Awareness and Eco-tourism are integral to this project.

Fundraising in motion, we have a special edition of 2000 Wild Poster Prints to move by March 20 to cover immediate care expenses for WLP's 130 adopted wild horses.  For more visit: https://www.wildlovepreserve.org/catalog/c7_p1.html or Wild Love Preserve FB Page
