Dana lives in Seattle, and Tracie lives in Germany. We are businesswomen, writers and humorists. We write about life, dating, and today's modern women.
You know, sometimes in life it just works.
The backdrop: We three women from three different corners of the world, namely, Morocco, Turkey and America met for the first time at a film ball in April two years ago, in Vienna, Austria. We promised to get together soon and we did. And we’ve kept in touch.
It’s always exciting meeting new people and we were all looking forward to getting together, but the first time we got together in Cologne, Germany, we didn’t expect the following to happen.
After hugging each other and complimenting how great the other looked, we sat down, ordered our drinks and fell into a smooth flow of conversation–which didn’t stop for over three hours. That we each felt so safe and secure with one another that we wanted to share our stories, wanted to know the other’s thoughts and actually cared about the hand that life had dealt each of us was such a beautiful thing!
There was no one-upmanship, no jealousy, no looking slyly out the corner of the eye. Nothing could have been further from the truth. As a matter of fact, we found ourselves reaching across the table and touching an arm while making a point, or showing that we could feel the other’s pain. We laughed, many times. We shed tears, many times. We reminded and reinforced in each other how strong we are and that we are in this thing called life for the long haul, come what may. We uninhibitedly reached for tissues and dabbed at our eyes and touched up our lipsticks before we had our picture taken. It was a real meeting of the minds, a soulful moment, or couple hours, if you will. Before we stood to leave, we held hands, looked each other in the eye and declared ourselves to be soulmates. How wondrous is that? It certainly doesn’t happen everyday.
And as I was walking home, I wore a smile that tugged all the way down to my soul. I was genuinely happy and feeling quite fortunate that these gorgeous women – Azer Günes and Fiona Sauer had come into my life.
The Sisterhood of Women, such a beautiful thing!
Ladies, may you all find your sister soulmates and relish in that relationship.
Because sometimes in life, it just works. And that’s a beautiful thing!
(Azer und Fiona, yes we Cannes! xo)
