Shining The Menopausebarbee Spotlight on a Friday

We Menopausebarbees didn’t want the week to slip away without acknowledging the passing of a literary great last Saturday.

Her career spanned four decades and she sold more than 500 million books in 40 countries. That is an astonishing accomplishment.

“She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words,” a family spokesperson said. Sadly, best selling author Jackie Collins succumbed to stage 4 breast cancer Saturday Sept 19, 2015 at the age of seventy-seven. The author had been quietly battling the disease for six years.

Have you ever felt that a problem is so sidetracking, that you crash in your mind and worry overwhelms you to the point that you don’t see how you can function? Think straight? Perhaps you take, as my sister and co-blogger Dana says, a ‘Fukitol’ and just go to bed? I get it, and that’s another thing that is so awe-inspiring about Ms. Collins. In what was to be the last interview she gave, with People magazine, she stated that she wrote five books since her diagnosis. Five. Nothing like having fortitude and being focused and determined.

It’s Friday, nonetheless, the Menopause Monday Spotlight is shining on you Ms. Collins. Thank you for all the stories you shared with us. May you Rest in peace.
