Tracie, today, we celebrate you my beautiful sister! One does not need a 23 & Me or any DNA Test to know we are family. I see Mama’s eyes when I look at yours. I see Daddy’s smile in your perfect teeth- like his, which never needed braces! I see Mama’s culinary skills passed to you, which she wasn’t so generous with me (lol). I see Daddy’s grit, determination, fight for what is right, and compassion for the less fortunate. I see this as you serve at feeding not only the belly of people with children suffering at the Ronald MacDonald House, but also feeding their souls with hope and your knowledge from your own pain, experiences and troubles. I see Mama’s sage wisdom in your common sense, which we all know ain’t so common anymore. I see Daddy’s wanderlust as you roam countries and catacombs alone. Each year, I see Mama’s timeless beauty in your face and your fit body. I see Daddy’s wild fashion. I see Mama’s age defying energy. I see Daddy’s humor as we laugh uncontrollably as only sisters can do. I see the lessons instilled in us by both of our lineage and our family mantra, “Ain’t no given in and no given out.” You are my “Beth Dutton” and I know no matter what, you always got my back. You my sister are all of these blessings I call my legacy, and when I look at you, I’m so proud your DNA is part of DANA.
One of your many gifts is your writing and for the past ten plus years, our blog has inspired women everywhere to hear our message which you prove everyday- We may be getting older, but we are still dolls!
Happy Birthday to a living doll!
