Growing up, Daddy had a saying… “It’s all game.” Translation for us Menopausebarbees was that you had to think outside of the box, be creative and make something happen.
I fervently know that Daddy would say The Ice Bucket Challenge is some real good game! You see, I have followed the naysayers and those that resent wasting water and complain that too much attention is being drawn to one major issue over another. However, when a game draws attention to the likes of Bill Gates, Professional Athletes, Henrietta Housewives, President Obama, and the national news- I say it is winning.
Winning to the tune as of Wednesday, August 20, The ALS Association has received $31.5 million in donations compared to $1.9 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 20). These donations have come from existing donors and 637,527 new donors to The Association.
As a lover of creative marketing, I think the ALS challenge is brilliant. Yesterday, I along with my son, Brett Frank-Looney took the challenge and made a donation on behalf of those suffering with ALS. Without the challenge, this most likely would have been off my radar. After I posted our video, I received so many notes and thanks, even from friends such as Margaret Soukoup who I didn’t realize lost a brother to ALS. So I am honored to be a part of fighting this debilitating disease and using my platform to spread the word.
Take the chill!
Great cause, great campaign, Good Game!
