Dana lives in Seattle, and Tracie lives in Germany. We are businesswomen, writers and humorists. We write about life, dating, and today's modern women.
So here we are with another year coming to a close. Time to reflect, re-charge, re-new, and rejoice as we recall the triumphs and tribulations of last years resolutions and establish new ones for 2015.
For those of you following our blog, 2014 has been a milestone year in many ways. As Bonnie Rait sang so poignantly, we gave em something to talk about! Between Tracie and I, we have celebrated a milestone birthday, navigated a divorce, shared stories of raising children, health matters, a new hip, chairing charitable endeavors, travels from Poland, Rome, Hawaii and New York. Through our daily blog, we have lived our lives out loud. One of the blessings of being a Menopausebarbee is coming to terms with what Ritu Ghatourey quoted, “The greatest prison people live in is the fear of what other people think.” Imagine where your life could take you, if you really let this go!
As I reflect on this post, I am re-posting from last year, one of the greatest lessons I learned this year and I will embrace in 2015 is
“Don’t worry about those who talk behind your back, they’re behind you for a reason.”
post from December 31, 2013
I had a dear friend text me yesterday and she asked if I believed in living with intention or if it didn’t matter as our destiny is already determined.
Her question was timely as it is a New Year, and I was processing my New Year Resolutions. I have always been a believer in Creative Visualization- See it, Be it, Become it. As my sister so perfectly coined in her post yesterday, we must poise our self into position as the author of our own destination. There are so many days when I feel the fear, and do it anyway. Challenge yourself to say Yes, more than No, take a chance, talk to a stranger, laugh at yourself, go places you have never been, try something new, and yes by all means, LIVE WITH INTENTION IN BEING PRESENT AND HAPPY! Surround yourself with friends who lift you up and make you a better person. Let go of the bad, as it is inevitable that as a part of life, we will all experience hurt, loss, regrets, and what if’s. We truly do control our thoughts, they don’t control us! When negative creeps in, shut them out, and don’t allow yourself to go there. Forgive yourself, for any wrong that you have caused others or yourself.
Work hard, and play hard!
I also told her to continue to live with the Divine. And as I responded to her text, I realized my 2014 resolution was complete:
I will add the D to Let Go and continue to live with intention by Letting God.Happy New Year my Friends!
Happy New Year Everyone!
